World AIDS Day

Getting to Zero: Zero new HIV infections. Zero discrimination. Zero AIDS related deaths.

Did you know that The Health Hub is the only medical practice in Glenelg with a qualified s100 prescriber doctor?

Today is World AIDS Day, the aim is to encourage all Australians to be aware of HIV; to take action to reduce the transmission of HIV by promoting safe sex practices; and to ensure that people living with HIV can participate fully in the life of the community, free from stigma and discrimination.

Approximately 1 in 1000 people are living with HIV in Adelaide. But in certain social groups it may be as high as 1 in 25. Often there are no symptoms and people may unknowingly live with the infection for many years before it becomes clinically obvious. The management of HIV has changed drastically over the past 20 years with affected patients now able to manage the condition with excellent outcomes. In fact, managing HIV is much the same as any other chronic disease such as diabetes or high blood pressure.

Dr Lane Hinchcliffe is a s100 prescriber, qualified to diagnose and manage HIV positive patients. Lane is the only s100 prescriber in Glenelg.

Dr Lane Hinchcliffe is passionate about the holistic picture and understands that there are both physical and emotional aspects that accompany a diagnosis of HIV. He also strives to empower patients to not feel defined by their diagnosis.

If you have any questions about HIV or would like to be tested The Health Hub offers a confidential and reliable service. Everyone is welcome.

Contact the practice on 1300 556 766.

Lets get to zero.
